SYDNEY, Australia – Australian police have arrested a person after 38 suspicious packages containing a probably hazardous substance have been despatched to overseas consulates within the Australian cities of Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney.

Police say a 48-year-old man was arrested at his dwelling in Shepparton, Victoria state, on Wednesday evening, and charged with sending harmful articles to be carried by a postal service.

The arrest got here after round 10 diplomatic missions, largely in Melbourne, on Wednesday reported the supply of suspicious packages, a few of them labelled “asbestos.”
