It would not be Eurovision without a controversy over plagiarism. This year, the Croatian representative at Eurovision 2018 is accused of plagiarizing a Romanian play – What we love Guez, Metro writes.

On February 13, Croatian artist Franka was nominated to represent Croatia at Eurovision 2018 with Crazy Melody. On March 7, the song was officially launched on Eurovision’s Youtube channel, and then it was found that the melodic line resembles a Romanian song released by Guez online on February 24th. The two songs have the same instrumental arrangement.

The plagiarist accusations began to run, but then it was not the case, because the instrumental arrangement of Crazy was done by Denzel Beats, the same who worked with Guez.

No version of the piece was commercially released before September 1, 2017, and there were no plagiarism complaints. Moreover, the fact that the arrangement used on the two tracks resembles does not confirm the plagiarism.

Unless an official complaint is made, Croatia’s entry to Eurovision is unlikely to change.
