12 American Airlines passengers with ‘flu-like symptoms’ held in Philadelphia
Passengers and crew on two American Airways flights arriving from Europe have been held away from different vacationers upon arrival in Philadelphia on Thursday after a number of confirmed indicators of “flu-like signs,” federal officers mentioned.
Customs and Border Safety mentioned 12 passengers on two flights, Flight 755 from Paris and Flight 717 from Munich, confirmed indicators of sickness. All 12 have been launched after they have been reviewed by federal and Philadelphia well being officers, CBP mentioned.
The company mentioned the measure, which is uncommon, was taken out of “an abundance of warning” a day afterauthorities briefly quarantined an Emirates Airline airplane upon touchdown in New York from Dubai. Its crew reported passengers had related signs. The ailing vacationers in Philadelphia have been arriving from the Hajj pilgrimage in Mecca, Saudi Arabia CBP mentioned in a press release.
The American Airways flights — in contrast to the Emirates superjumbo jet, which was met with ambulances — weren’t quarantined. CBP mentioned it examined passengers in a station “away from different passengers.” No less than 10 passengers have been taken to a neighborhood hospital after the Emirates flight landed, together with seven crew members, the airline mentioned.
