Trump Says He’s Ready to Impose Tariffs on $500 Billion in Chinese Imports

on Friday reiterated his menace to place a tariff on each greenback of China’s roughly $500 billion in exports to the U.S.

“We’re down an incredible quantity,” Mr. Trump informed CNBC in an interview broadcast Friday, referring to U.S. commerce with China.

Earlier this month, the U.S. imposed levies on $34 billion of Chinese language exports of equipment, parts and electronics. Additionally scheduled are tariffs on $16 billion of Chinese language electronics and different parts.

The U.S. has recognized an additional $200 billion in Chinese language items the U.S. might goal for tariffs, for a complete of $250 billion. Something additional, Mr. Trump has stated, will depend on the extent to which China retaliates.
