Former Volkswagen boss Martin Winterkorn has been charged with conspiracy to defraud the US authorities as a probe into the diesel emissions scandal deepens.

The Division of Justice accuses the chief govt of violating the Clear Air Act by overlaying up Volkswagen’s dishonest of emissions checks.
