INTERSTATE first-home consumers relocating to Geelong for work have snapped up an entry-level Belmont property after public sale.

Hayeswinckle, Highton agent Michelle Winckle stated the couple negotiated to purchase 23 Rugby St for “near $500,000” on Saturday.

Earlier within the day the two-bedroom weatherboard home was handed in on a lone $400,000 bid.

Value hopes for the home had been $480,000 to $520,000.

“They’re first-home consumers coming from interstate,” Ms Winckle stated.

“They selected Belmont as a result of it was reasonably priced in comparison with different suburbs like East Geelong and Geelong West.”

The 1960s home is on a 595sq m block and lends itself to a renovation or extension.

It has an open-plan kitchen, eating and front room, two bedrooms, a shared rest room and a two-car storage on the rear.

“It’s a phenomenal character avenue and a big parcel of land that has potential written throughout it,” Ms Winckle stated.
